8 Days: Kilimanjaro, Arusha, Tarangire National Park, Lake Manyara National Park, Ngorongoro Crater, Serengeti National Park

Tour overview:

This itinerary celebrates access to the reserves throughout Tanzania. Wildlife abounds with ample opportunity to experience mountain biking, a village visit, a forest hike or a short nature walk. Archeology enthusiasts will be fascinated by a visit to Olduvai Gorge where Dr. Leakey conducted extensive excavations.

Day 1 - Arrive Kilimanjaro

Upon arrival, you will be met and escorted to your lodge. (D)

Day 2 - Arusha / Tarangire National Park

Drive to Tarangire National Park, where you will enjoy afternoon game viewing. (BLD)

Day 3 - Tarangire National Park / Lake Manyara

After a morning of game viewing and a picnic lunch in Tarangire National Park, continue to Lake Manyara National Park. This afternoon, choose from mountain biking, a village visit, a forest hike or a short nature walk. (BLD)

Day 4 - Lake Manyara National Park

On your full-day game drive you’ll find an abundance of wildlife, including hippo, zebra, giraffe, buffalo, leopard, impala, wildebeest, baboons and monkeys. (BLD)

Day 5 - Lake Manyara National Park / Ngorongoro Crater

Ascend through the highlands to the very rim of the Ngorongoro Crater. From there, descend into the crater for a full afternoon of game viewing. Vast herds of wildebeest, zebra, gazelle, buffalo, and their predators – the big cats – roam the crater floor. (BLD)

Day 6 - Ngorongoro Crater / Olduvai Gorge / Serengeti National Park

Depart Ngorongoro bound for Serengeti National Park. Visit Olduvai Gorge, an archeological site extensively excavated by the Leakeys. Continue to Serengeti National Park, where huge herds of wildebeest, antelope and zebra provide an unequalled wildlife spectacle. Later, enjoy an afternoon game drive. (BLD)

Day 7 - Serengeti National Park

Morning and afternoon game drives in the Serengeti National Park, or choose a full day game drive with picnic lunch. A balloon safari at dawn is available (additional cost).

Day 8 - Serengeti National Park / Depart Kilimanjaro

This morning’s pre-breakfast game drive is your final opportunity to bask in the unmatched grandeur of the African safari lands before flying to Arusha for lunch. Time permitting, a day room is provided to freshen up before you transfer to Kilimanjaro Airport for your evening departure flight. Optional extension to Zanzibar available. (BL)
